Solar & crank & battery operated flashlight, AM/FM/NOAA weather radio—all in one! We purchased this radio based on several reviews, including one by Pro. Publica. The radio works perfectly, and we appreciate the multiple features. Unfortunately, I found one of the reviews of this radio incomplete, because it didn't include a photo of the radio in operation. I have since purchased that radio, and am very pleased with it. I had a small problem with the light which they quickly resolved. Then, via email, sent a replacement. Do you need an emergency radio for unpredicted power outages? If so we think you should take a look at what we think is the best solar NOAA weather radio. Great radio, excellent reception, I Had no problems using it right out of the box and I'm pleased with my purchase. I bought this as an emergency radio, but use it when I'm working in my shop or outside puttering around. The radio works great when the battery is charged up but, as one other reviewer noted, as the battery gets weak the radio loses it's tuning. I have used it to charge my i. Phone and it does work (i. Phone recognizes it as an external power supply). Using the solar cells to charge the radio doesn't seem to be effective if I keep the radio on a windowsill, so it probably needs to be outside under direct sunlight.
Running Snail's emergency radio system is awesome. It has 4 different power sources: solar, hand crank, power outlet and USB. It works flawlessly. I expected a larger, bulkier radio when I ordered this, but what arrived was much better. It fits into a backpack without adding excessive weight or taking up too much space. The reading light is bright and lights up a large area. The radio dial is a little tight, and fine tuning is difficult at first, but hopefully that will stay that way over the years I plan to use this. Once I did get the micro tuning down, the sound quality and station stability was great.
The Running. Snail solar radio is very versatile and it can even be used as a power bank to charge your mobile devices. Great little portable radio with lots of bells and whistles. When the power goes out I have a way to charge my phone. The flashlight works really well. The radio works very well. I really like the different features it has and how many charging features it has. I will be buying one for each of my two sons when the power goes out. The main feature of this radio is the sun dial. It is very sensitive and can pick up a lot of stations. It also has a very loud and obnoxious SOS function. It is a great buy. This is the best camping/recreational radio ever, worked for the kids in their tent to keep them occupied with music all nite.
Good little radio that has some great features. The Li-Ion battery can be charged by solar or plugging into a USB port. The end flashlight isn't bright at all, but the little floodlight under the solar panel is pretty cool, the hand crank works, and the SOS works. It's small, fits in a backpack without adding excessive weight, and the original manufacturer's instructions are very good. I recommend this product. I haven't yet had a chance to use it extensively but in testing it out it has shown to be easy to use and the sound is quite good.
